Giving It All To God
Today is this final day of devotions, these 30 days of walking with God as a man and learning to become all God wants you to become. Today I want to just talk to you about Giving It All To God. Just giving it back to him. Today is going to sound perhaps contradictory to everything else I’ve said, but this is so important.
We’ve talked about goals. We’ve talked about plans. We’ve talked about priorities. We’ve talked about action, but here’s the bottom line: you can’t do any of those. You cannot do any of those. Jesus said in John, chapter 15, verse 5, “…without me you can do nothing.” Absolutely nothing! It’s not your power. It’s not your strength. It’s not your ability. It’s God. You have to give it back to him.
The Bible says, “Now the just shall live by faith” (or, “The righteous shall live by faith”). What does that mean? That means we look to God. We trust him, and he gives us the grace. He gives us the strength. It’s not what we can do. You see, the Christian life and becoming like Christ in your heart, in your home, in your health… Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
All of these things we’ve discussed, you have to just come to the Lord and say, “Lord, I can’t do it.”
You know, when I first became a Christian, one of the first verses I memorized was Philippians 4:13 that says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I’d say, “Yeah, I can do it all.” I really emphasized what I could do. Then the Lord showed me John 15:5. I can do nothing…nothing…without him. It was only when I understand that that I could go back to Philippians 4:13 and say, “I can do all things…” The emphasis then was on, “…through Christ who strengthens me.”
I’ve had to learn to live over the years and walk in this Christian life. “It’s you, Lord. It’s you! It’s not me. It’s not what I can do, but it’s you. I’m trusting you to give me the power and the strength to live that life.” That’s why Hebrews 12 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author…of our faith.” He is the one writing faith in our hearts. “…and finisher of our faith.” He is the one who is perfecting it and making us more and more and more like Jesus. Look to him, depend upon him, trust in him, and you will finish the race.

 Hebrews : Chapter 10
32)  Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33)  Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34)  You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. 35)  So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36)  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37)  For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.”[f] 38)  And, “But my righteous[g] one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”[h]

Book of the Month

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Beginning in the bars of Baton Rouge and the nightclubs of Chicago, Tippit has shared the news of life-changing faith in Christ all over the world – including in the middle of a revolution in Romania, the aftermath of genocide in Rwanda, and war in Burundi and the Congo.
Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
Yet he continues to preach to in stadiums, in open fields, and via satellite technology to hundreds of thousands around the globe.  For all other books…
