“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.” (Revelation 19:11)
Have you ever wondered why Jesus was so upset with the religious leaders of His times? He forgave prostitutes, healed the sick, and set free the demon possessed. But He continually rebuked the religious scholars. What was it that upset Jesus so much about the scribes and Pharisees?
I believe the answer lies in who He is: His divine character. He once said, “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). The divine nature of Jesus is that He is complete truth. There’s no falsehood in Him. He’s ultimate reality because everything about Jesus is true. In fact, one of the names ascribed to Jesus in the Book of Revelation is “True.” When truth comes into the presence of falsehood, the two cannot stay in close quarters. Truth is light, and falsehood is darkness. And light and darkness can’t dwell together.
The sinners, the sick, the rejected, and the demon-possessed were in terrible straits. But they understood the truth of their situation. They knew they needed help. They understood the darkness in which they were living. But the religious leaders were also living in darkness. They just thought they were okay. It brings shivers down your spine when you realize they thought they were the light of the world when in reality they were living in darkness.
I’m a follower of Jesus because He is the truth. I’m so glad we’ve not followed a fable or some lofty but untrue story. Jesus is “True.” I’m willing to risk my life on the fact that Jesus is the Son of God. I would never die for a fable, but I’m willing to give my life for the truth.
Too often today we hear people say that “doctrine” isn’t important. That’s nonsense. Of course it’s important. If a teaching is truth, then it’s a part of Jesus because He is the truth. If it’s not true, then it’s a part of the darkness. But biblical teaching isn’t something to be believed with just our minds. It’s much more than that. It’s something to be practiced in our lives. The real test of our faith is whether we live what we say. Revival means coming to the knowledge of the truth, applying that truth to our daily lives, and then walking in the truth we’ve come to know.
Christianity isn’t a game we play. Genuine Christianity is a life rooted in truth. It’s not trying to impress others with our spirituality. It’s being willing to be searched in the dark parts of our hearts by the light of God’s truth. It’s repenting of whatever He shows us. It’s then surrendering to the One who is called “Faithful and True.” When we do that, our Christian life will be filled with reality. It’s the reality of the life of Christ and the reality of victory in our lives. And that’s something we greatly need in this generation: real Christians.

Revelation : Chapter 19
11)  I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12)  His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13)  He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14)  The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15)  Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16)  On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

Sammy Tippit told his fiancée, “I can’t promise we’ll be rich, but life won’t be boring.”
Sammy had no idea what an understatement that would become. Sammy’s lifelong adventure has come at a great price. He’s been cursed, threatened, arrested, deported, and blacklisted. He’s also been personally broken, ravaged with illness, and devastated by grief.
